My WebCT is the first screen you see after logging in. The primary function of the My WebCT screen is to provide a single point of access to the courses in which you are assigned. It's also where you will see messages and resources sent to all WebCT users at the institution.
The My WebCT screen contains three areas.
The logo bar appears at the top of the My WebCT screen and contains the following:
The My WebCT toolbar is located at the top of the My WebCT screen, below the logo bar and contains the following:
2.3. Channels
The My WebCT screen is organized into channels of information. The main channel is the Course List channel, which provides links to your courses. In addition, the following channels are also available on he My WebCT screen:
- Campus Announcements - Displays announcements that have been sent to the campus or to WebCT users who are enrolled in certain roles. (default)
- External Courses - Can be used to create links to non-WebCT online courses.
- Calendar Week - Displays Calendar entries for the current week.
- Calendar Day - Displays Calendar entries for today.
- To Do List- Can be used to create a personal to do list.
- My Grades - When grades are released for a course in which you are enrolled, this channel displays a link to the grade.
- Personal Bookmarks - Can be used to create links to your favorite web pages and web sites.
- Campus Bookmarks- Contains links to web pages and web sites that have been provided by your institution.
- Who's Online - Displays the number of users currently online in each of your Blackboard Learning System courses. You can access their names and send an invitation for a real-time chat session to one or more of those users.
Hiding or Showing Channels on the My WebCT Screen
- On the My WebCT toolbar, click Channels.
- Select each channel that you want to show.
- Next to each channel that you want to hide, clear the check box.
- Click Save.

Changing the Order of Channels on the My WebCT Screen
- From the My WebCTscreen, on the My WebCT toolbar, click Layout.
- Select the channel and click the appropriate Move icon until the channel is in the correct location.

Changing the Color Scheme of the My WebCT Screen
- From the My WebCT screen, on the My WebCT toolbar, click Color.
- Select the desired colors and click Apply.

3. My Settings
The My Settings link allows the user to modify three tabs: My Profile, My Tool Options & My Roles

3.1. My Profile
Please see the Edit My Profile Under The Roster Tool for more information on how to edit your profile.

The My Tools option are personal and apply only to you. The options set at this level are default and will apply in all of your courses.
Calendar
- Preferred View: specify whether you want the month, week, or day view to display when you access it.
- Week begins on: specify the day that determines the start of the week.

Discussions
- Specify whether you want to display your posted messages as read - this does not apply to Blogs or Journals.
- Specify whether you want discussions to appear threaded or unthreaded. A threaded discussion is a series of messages on teh same subject with the originating message. listed first with replies following indented. An unthreaded lists messages in chronological order - this does not apply to Blogs or Journals.
- Specify whether you want your new messages to appear at the top or bottom of the list.
- Specify whether to show all messages or unread messages only.

Fonts
- Select the font size to display your WebCT courses in from the drop-down list or use the System default
- Specify the font type to display your WebCT course in from the drop-down list or use the System default
HTML Creator: choose whether to have the HTML Creator start by default in applications that offer its' use - Discussions, Mail, Calendar, etc.
Language: specify the language you want WebCT to display by selecting it from the drop-down list.

Mail
Note: The Mail forwarding option is not available, if you click this option, your mail will not be forwarded.
- Specify whether to show all messages or only unread messages when you first enter Mail by selecting the Show Messages''option.
- Specify whether to show new messages at the''top or bottom of the list by selecting a Show new messages at':option.
Paging: select the default number of items to be displayed on each page by specifying a value in the Number of records per page text box.
Who's Online
- Specify your default status:This changes your default status, not your current status
- If you want your name to appear on the list of online users and appear available to chat, select Visible/Available.
- If you want your name to appear on the list of online users but do not want users to send chat invitations, select Visible/Unavailable.
- If you do not want your name to appear on the list of online users, select Invisible.
Once you have made your selections click Save.

3.3. My Roles
The My Roles tab displays all of your current enrollment information. Enrollment indicates whether you are assigned a role in a learning context.

4. Hiding Courses from your Course List
If you find that your list of courses in WebCT Vista is too long, it is possible to hide some of the courses. This will make it easier to use your current active courses.
To hide a course from your course list:
- Click on the pencil icon located in the upper-right corner of the Course List.
- Select the course(s) you wish to hide and click Hide Link.
You may also move (reorder) your courses in the course list. To do this, select the course(s) you want to move and click the icon beside the course you want to relocate them to. You will be given the option of moving the selected courses above or below the course. To reorder your courses alphabetically, select "Restore Default".

To return to your My WebCT page, click the My WebCT tab. The number of hidden course links will be shown below the title 'Course List'.

If you wish to view these courses at a later date simply click on the pencil icon and de-select the course(s) and click Show Link.
These courses will not be deleted but hidden from your course list.
